What is VAST? 

VAST, Volunteer Administrators of the Southern Tier, is a professional membership organization of individuals working in volunteer management and serving the Binghamton, NY area.

VAST was founded in 1986 to provide focused networking opportunities for local Volunteer Coordinators.  VAST evolved from the United Way's Voluntary Action Center Advisory Board, and we have continued an informal affiliation with the United Way.

Membership is open to salaried and non-salaried professionals in public, nonprofit and for-profit organizations.  VAST members strive to shape the future of volunteerism, develop professional skills, and further careers.

Our philosophy recognizes and values inclusiveness and openness. We are committed to diversity reflecting the demographics of the communities and the members we serve. Our goal is to facilitate and share ideas and programs with each other to enhance the work we do.
